java version "1.2.2"
Classic VM (build JDK-1.2.2-W, native threads, symcjit)
The Appendix D, "Changes for Java 1.1" and the "Clarifications and Amendments"
is an inadequate and wasteful way to specify the Java language.
Appendix D itself is bad because it fails to respecify the affected portions of
the grammar. Besides the problem of not being integrated into the language
grammar in JLS, it makes decisively answering language issues extremely
difficult and open to interpretation.
A new edition which incorporates all of the changes, clarifications, and
amendments to date is long overdue. The lack of a concise and accurate
specification for the Java language hinders its effective use and causes
considerable waste and confusion amongst the user community.
