I have a customer that reports:
Using version 1.2.2 of the Java Plug-In, in Internet Explorer, on Windows 2000.
The crash can reproduced on IE5 running on Win2K by going to any of the applet pages at:
http://192.9.48.9/products/plugin/1.2.2/demos/applets.html
If you goto one of the applet pages on a Win2K machine, for example clock, and after the page is loaded and the applet is running if you merely press on the browser back button (or home button, or any button that leaves the page), the Plugin will crash and bring down IE with it.
We are developing a Java-based product, which will be released early next year. Support for Windows 2000 is important for our customers, so this bug is critical for us.
I think I have found a Sun bug number that describes the crasher (and probably hangs) we are seeing with the plugin, check out:
