Since I am using Forte as development tool I am very very sad about the missing
feature of incremental-search-selection in any lists, trees, combo-boxes,
tables, etc. The only way to select a list-item out of many (e.g. 100 classes,
50 files, etc.) is to scroll and look and scroll and look and scroll and look
and select. If this feature would be integrated into the swing base classes
then a (power) user can quickly select an item by typing the characters. (There
is usally also a heuristic for backward compatibility to the item-selction by
typing the first character of a list item).

For the exact behavior of this incremental-search-selection feature please try
out e.g. the MS-Windows explorer views (left side tree, right side files) (you
find this feature in all controls that display a list in any form e.g. lists,
trees, tables, detail views, combo boxes, ...). This incremental-search-
selection feature exists under MS-Windows since W95/NT4.0.

If you can build in this relatively simple realizeable feature into the Swing
classes you would improve the efficiency of the UI handling enormously. This
missing feature is currently almost a K.O. argument for using Forte and other
Swing-Java-Tools for me and my colleagues.
