Run screenTest on win98. There are 3 problems happened on this build:
1) 256 color display abnormal.
1a) Pick any color depth which are beyond 256 color, for example 24 or 32 bit color, display the frames. Then change one or both screen to 256 color depth. You will see the dithering is totally abnormal. The color displayed as irregular pieces with straight border line.
1b) If you set 256 color as original, and launch the test.
The image and dithering will displayed with very bad resolution.
2) After the application terminated, the drawings are still existing on the background screen.
1)The first time when I run the test on Merlin build 75, by changing the color from 24 to 256, the images become black, and the following messages show on the command screen:
DDSetColorKey:: DirectDraw Error: DDERR_SURFACELOST
DDSetColorKey:: DirectDraw Error: DDERR_SURFACELOST
DDSetColorKey:: DirectDraw Error: DDERR_SURFACELOST
Then I re-compiled the code, this time the error message is gone, the images are black untill click the frame, the frame got the focus, then the images become normal.
2) If one monitor launched at 24 bit, another launched at 256, the dithering on the 256 is still not acceptable.
The video cards on my machine are: 3dfx Voodoo3 and ATI 3D Rage Pro
The problem regarding the drawing still existing on the screen after exit (as mentioned above) occurs occasionally. Can't reproduce the exact sequence.
