The Sun supplied Java Accessibility Bridge does not support keyboard focus change when used with Microsoft Accessibility Architecture (MSAA) Magnifier Products.
To reproduce, execute a swing application which uses Swing Controls (such as the SwingSet example application) on Windows 98/2000 (or any other version of Windows with an MSAA Magnifier installed), ensuring the Java Accessibility Bridge is also active (see notes below). Then, focus the magnifier (which comes standard on Window 98/2000) on the swing window and move between the various controls within the window using the keyboard (such as the "TAB" key). Do this until the control in focus lies outside of the area magnified by the magnifier tool. The magnifier tool should follow the focus as it changes in the Application, allowing the user to see a magnified image of the control in focus. This works for all Windows applications except swing Applications.
This problem exists for both 1.1.8 and 1.2.2 JVM's using accessibility Bridge Version 1.0.
SINCE APPLICATIONS NEED TO BE COMPATIBLE WITH MSAA MAGNIFIER TOOLS TO OBTAIN MICROSOFT WINDOWS 2000 CERTIFICATION, THIS PROBLEM PREVENTS ANY SWING APPLICATION FROM ACHIEVING SUCH CERTIFICATION.
Using the Magnifier in Windows
==============================
The magnifier tool comes as part of the operating system in Windows 98/2000. To use it, ensure the accessibility tools are installed. For example, in Windows 98 you would check:
"Control Panel"->"Add/Remove Programs"->"Windows Setup"
