Install Solaris 8 (with both traditional and simplified Chinese). Add patches
108652-08 and 108940-03. Both of these patches can be obtained from
/net/dtcte.eng/export/home/PATCHES. Attempt to login using locale zh_TW.UTF-8.
If that attempt succeeds, attempt to login using the locale zh_CN.UTF-8.
After the splash screen appears, the Xserver will hang.

Derek Wang claimed that the problem is the location of libjvm.so, but he
moved a different (JDK 1.2) version of libjvm.so into
/usr/java1.2/jre/lib/sparc, so this diagnosis is uncertain (though likely).
This is what he wrote:

"Finally I reproduced the login problem on my system. The cause of the problem
is that 1.3 java missed libjvm.so which cause /usr/sbin/ocfserv failed to
start. After I manually copy 1.2 libjvm.so to
/usr/java1.2/jre/lib/sparc/libjvm.so, login in zh_TW.UTF-8 and en_US.UTF-8
locale never failed. "

Perhaps some Solaris 8 programs have baked in the path
/usr/java1.2/jre/lib/sparc using the compiler option -R.
