Description:
on win98 with merlinb16, the font Courier New does not get renered properly.
This is an issue with 24 and 16 bit color settings.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) install the latest j2se (actually untar)
2) launch Font2DTest
3) don't change any of the other settings, in demo but change font to * Courier New

Result:
Text is ALL smashed together

Expected Result:
That text be displayed properly
