Use Merlin build20, on Solaris 2.6 or 2.7, run the test attached in the "Attachments" by typing "java CanvasTest", you will see the resolution of dithering is worse than the resolution by using JDK1.3. Especially for dithering on the canvases with vis25,20,21,22, the differences are obvious.
