Regresson: NervousText demo doesn't clear old text

      This first appeared in Merlin-beta build 25. This was the build that
      Sergey's repaint work went into. It occurs on Solaris only. My machine is
      an Ultra-10 (not a Creator).

      To reproduce: run the NervousText demo applet. The old text does not
      disappear when the next text string is drawn. Eventually, the demo pane
      fills up with old text.
