I just downloaded and untar'd the Forte C 6.0 wad. When I run the
installer I get

    # ./installer
    
    Cannot open /proc528860 for GCCould not create Java VM

I've seen this message before, typically running Sun in-house Java
applications. In that case it's due to a bug (in the JVM?) where the
code assumes that pids are no more than 5 digits. I assume that the
same thing is happening here.
