A progress dialog is desired when the plug-in is downloading JAR files. Currently, the user receives no feedback during JAR file download and can easily assume that the browser has hung. A progress dialog similar to the ones Netscape and IE use when downloading files would be very helpful to users. It should include:
      -A visual progress bar.
-A textual progress indicator giving the total number of bytes, the bytes downloaded so far, and a percentage of bytes downloaded.
-A message explaining what is happening.
All text in the dialog would need to be translated for various locales.
Obviously, not all applets would need or want the dialog, so it would have to be controlled by an HTML parameter.
Alternatively, some kind of API could be provided to give the applet the ability to track the progress or JAR download. The applet would then be responsible for implementing a progress dialog if desired.
