Steps to install the NS6 Browser and plugin

  1) Install Java 1.3.1 into $JAVA_HOME...from
/net/altair.east/terra/space2/plugin/pr2/binary/solaris/sparc/

        a) Become root and install the SUNW* java packages.
           JAVA_HOME will be /usr/j2se/jre
                   or
        b) Unpack (execute) the self-extracting binary in the directory
           of your choice. JAVA_HOME will be the directory where java
           is installed.

  2) Install Netscape 6...from
/net/crumple/export/nc-re/pkgs/n6_sunpkgs/2000.09.06/unbundled/sparc
        a) Become root and install the SUNW* netscape packages.
  3) Tell Netscape 6 where you have installed Java...
a) Become root
b) cd /opt/SUNWns6/package/plugins
c) ln -s ${JAVA_HOME}/plugin/sparc/libjavaplugin_oji.so libjavaplugin_oji.so

  4) Start netscape6...
        a) cd /opt/SUNWns6
b) ./netscape
c) Make sure you setup your proxies the first time...

Run the BAT test from http://sqesvr.eng.sun.com/deployment1/ws/doc/proc/JPI_bat.html

Results :

Applet gets loaded but the java Console does not come up
