Tested with Merlin b38 on solaris 2.6/x86.
Monospaced font can not display ASCII characters correctly on ja locale.
ASCII code 0000 - 007F is displayed correctly.
But, 0080 - 00FF is not correct and is disaplayed another code(FF60 - FF9F).
FF60 - FF9F code is Halfwidth Katakana.
This problem is only ja locale.
This is not reproduced C locale.
To reproduce,
1.Please login on ja locale.
2. Excute Font2DTest demo on Solaris 2.6 x86.
($JAVAHOME/demo/jfc/Font2DTest/Font2DTest.jar)
3. Select MonoSpaced from Font Choice.
4. Select "ASCII" from Unicode Range.
5. Select one of the method from DrawMethod except drawBytes.
You can see Halfwidth Katakana in line a0, b0, c0 and d0.
Please see attached gif file.
The file may be useful to understand the problem.
This problem is not reproduced on Sparc.

Font2DTest doesn't invoke on IA2.6
