When Direct proxy configuration is set in netscape6 proxy preferences and "Use browser settings" is set in the Plug-in Control panel, Plug-in uses manual
Proxy configuration settings which is not choosen in the browser.Tested on windows 98/NS4.08/NS4.61/NS6 with the latest Netscape 6 (11/15/2000).

Java Console output with different Netscape Browser is attached with this bug.
To reproduce this bug , follow these steps.
1. Remove the proxy settings in all the other browsers installed on the system.
Netscape -> Edit preferences ->Proxies -> remove proxies -> choose direct connection
IE ->Tools -> Internet Options ->Connections ->LAN Settings -> Remove proxies
2. Invoke Netscape 6 ->Edit ->Advance->proxies->
In the manual proxy settings choose "webcache-cup" or any other proxy
Now choose direct connection option in the proxy settings.
(choosing the direct connection( "radio button") but manual is set with the
proxy address)
3. Enable Java console ,Set the Trace level to 3 in the Java Console
Run the following applet

In the Java Console you can notice the applet is being loaded through proxy
