      java version "1.3.0_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.0_01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.0_01, mixed mode)

I have just installed the J2SE JDK 1.3.0_01. I had an "out of disk space" error
while performing the installation (JRE phase), and cancelled the dialog that
was telling me to free disk space. The installer nonetheless told me that the
installation was successfull, but as it was not, I just deinstalled the whole
thing, freed disk space and reinstalled it.

I don't know if the problem is related to this procedure, but after the second
installation (which was successfull), when I typed java at the command prompt,
I had an error saying that the VM could not initialize since it could not find
java/lang/Object. When looking at the JRE directory, I saw that the rt.jar file
      was missing.
