Currently, each plug-in that wishes to support metadata must re-create the
infrastructure to generate a standard metadata tree. By providing a set
of protected methods on IIOMetadata, one for each of the main nodes of the
tree (chroma, compression, etc.), and a final method that constructs the
full tree from its components, this task can be greatly simplified.
