Each of the 'jre' value.shl files in Merlin define the PLUGIN_MICROVERSION
field with the value:
  PLUGIN_MICRO_VERSION=1,4,0,0

Ladybird has a better implementation: this field is not defined in the
'jre' value.shl files, but rather in the make/ishield/jre/jrescript.rul.

Is Ladybird more up to date than Merlin?
