While installing versions 1.3.0 and 1.3.0.01, I get the error:
Java 2 Runtime Environment Setup Failed With a return Code of -1.
I have tried mulitple downloaded versions where the setup has failed from
multiple mirrors and it seems as if it has something to do with Win2000 Professional (NTFS).
Installing SP 1 did not help.
jdk 1.2.1 installs fine but I need the newer version to work with Forte.

I think that I chucked the full version of 1.3.0-win after I downloaded it 3
times from 3 different mirrors and got the same result.
There are two screen captures. One when the error occurs.
There is one odd thing that happens on startup with another program of mine.
It is the Creative labs CTSvcCDA.exe that get a memory location error. I
have enclosed that as well. I don't know if it has any relevance.
total size of hd = 20GB
Windows partition = 7.59GB
Free in win partition = 5.17GB
Memory = 130544
memory usage I don't think is a problem here.?
I have a Linux partition.
Software Installation since partitioning = Maybe 6 apps. Didn't keep all of
them. I have installed Visual Studio C++, lcc, and Quicken for instance. I
tried to uninstall things to help but it didn't work.

PROBLEM:
Installation of JDK 1.3.0_02 continuously fails on installation of JRE with a
result code of -1 on Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
DETAILS:
Installation of JDK 1.3.0_02 fails with a -1 return code when installed on a
Windows 2000 Advanced Server machine with Oracle 8.1.7 and Apple WebObjects 4.5
installed. Oracle 8.1.7 installs the JRE 1.1.7 while Apple WebObjects 4.5
installs its own JDK (unknown version).
The JRE1.3.0_02 installation succeeds.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE ERROR:
Install Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
Install Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition
Install Apple WebObjects 4.5 Developer
Perform Windows Update and load all Critical Updates and Service Packs.
Download and install JDK 1.3.0_02
(you should get an installation failure at this point)
