java version "1.3.0"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.0-C)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.0-C, mixed mode)
I need to work with "Installable Optional packages".
Bugs aside, it looks good!
Except that I have a big concern: The location of the optional package.
the "OptPkg-Implementation-URL" parameter that is defined in the applet's
Manifest must point to a FULL absolute url (with protocol, hostname).
Could it be possible, that in near future release of the JRE/Plugin, to have
that parameter accepted also as a url relative to the current context?
My problem is that we have developed some signed applets that are part of
major products and that depend on some big jars. Those applets are the same
independent of who the customer is (I mean no specific reconstruction per customer), so it
is not possible to define a reference (in the manifest) to a particular web server machine.
Also, it is unfortunately IMPOSSIBLE to have a download point from my
development center that I could reference.
I deeply hope that you could take my FEATURE REQUEST into account.
Thanks in advance.
