This bug definitely appears on both Win 98 and NT. It most likely occurs on
all Windows systems. The bug is very simple. When you install the 1.3.0_02
JRE it creates a registry entry of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Javasoft\Java
Runtime Environment\1.3.0. All other JRE installs install to a final key that
is equal to the JRE version (e.g. JRE 1.3.0_01 has a registry entry
of ...\1.3.0_01). The registry entry for the 1.3.0_02 JRE is inconsistent with
other intalls. My company is currently using the registry entry as a means of
detecting the version of the JRE installed and the checks fail for the 1.3.0_02
JRE due to the bad registry entry.
