Japanese characters are not seen properly under japanese Windows NT4.0. Investigation has revealed that the problem lies with the use of the JRE. The characters are seen properly if JDK1.2.2_006 or JDK1.2.2_007, non-japanese, non-international versions, are used. The characters are *NOT* seen correctly if corresponding versions of the JRE are used, ensuring the identical environment as used with the JDK. No problems are observed using JRE on Solaris for displaying Japanese characters.
