Go to http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/api/javax/swing/JWindow.html
Read the first sentence of the second paragraph in the JWindow description. It
reads: "The JWindow component contains a JRootPane as it's only child."
This is akin to saying, "The JWindow component contains a JRootPane as it is
only child," which doesn't make sense.
"Its" is most certainly NOT
the short form for "it is." "It's" is a contraction
for "it is" or "it has." "Its" is used in all other
circumstances. I found a web page that neatly
summarizes the two definitions:
http://www.stormloader.com/garyes/its.html
Not only that, but every other page in the Java
documentation agrees with me.
I realize I'm being pedantic, but this is quite
important to me. :) I don't want to see English being
perverted with misuse of words such homophones as
its/it's, you're/your/yore, they're/their/there,
lose/loose, affect/effect, peaked/piqued, etc.
