The Solaris native rasteriser has been turned back "on" for merlin beta
as a result of recently highlighted regressions in text quality for Japanese
Solaris.
This had been "off" for many months and some problems have been seen which
suggest that the cases for which the native rasteriser is being used may
be more than is ideal.
To reduce the risk of this we need a mechanism to allow the native
rasteriser to be disabled at runtime.
