The width of the lines that forms Japanese characters is not equal and results in bad quality of rendering.


Tested on Solaris Sparc 2.7 PCK with jdk1.3.0_03 respin

Steps to reproduce:

Please untar fj-test-source-042701.tar (attached)
and use CharView test case under awt


1. Invoke CharView under awt directory
2. Input 4e00 in the text box to render Japanese characters
3. Select Dialog or Sanserif.
4. Select font size 28 or bigger from a drop down list
5. You can see that width of the lines which forms Japanese characters are not consistant.

Similer problem can be seen with jdk1.2.2_008 and jdk1.3.0_03 on Ja NT4 and on Ja Win2000 pro and with jdk1.3.0_03 respin on Ja NT4. This problem wasn't seen with Ja Win 95.

For those Japanese Windows, this bug is reproducible only when selecting Graphics.drawString mode from drop down list.
