      java version "1.4.0-beta"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0-beta-b65)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.0-beta-b65, mixed mode)

The HTMLEditorKit has been "migrating towards version 4.0" for HTML support
since 1.2.2. It seems that with the amount of support this version has for XML
parsing etc, that it should also have current support for HTML 4.0, XHTML 1.0,
      and CSS 1 & 2.

By the way Sun donated a XHTML parser to the Apache group to help get their XML
projects going so why isn't the Swing HTML parser capable of handling XHTML
without getting the character ">" appearing after every simple tag?

Better support for viewing web pages would go a long way toward improving the
quality of many products including JavaHelp. Wouldn't it be nice if a simple
java browser based on JEditorPane could actually view java.sun.com correctly?
