I'm using a DELL Precision 410. Not sure what the video card is.
I was running with the promoted build 74 of merlin-beta2. The AWT
painting work going into build 75 didn't seem to help or hurt (I found
this while testing, and so did another engineer).
1) Launch swingset on NT.
It's easier to reproduce if you do this while the toolbar icons are
still loading, but I can reproduce it even after swingset is fully launched.
2) Drag the swingset so most of it is offscreen.
3) Wait a second.
4) Quickly drag the swingset back onscreen.
About a third or half of the time, there will be unpainted bands of gray
on the swingset.
I could reproduce this fairly easily when running in default mode, but I was
never able to reproduce it with direct draw turned off.
I could reproduce it with -Xint as well.
Covering the window and exposing it again causes damaged areas to repaint
normally, but not the whole window.
This is easiest to reproduce while the demos are still loading into the
toolbar, but I have seen it when the swingset is fully loaded as well.
-----------------
Updated info:
The video card used was a Matrox G400, resolution 1024/768, refresh 75 Mhz.
The system processor/speed is not known, but it's not too slow. The jdk
used was loaded over the net, which makes loading the application slower
(this repainting artifact may be affected by timing issues).
I have been so far unable to reproduce the problem, but I will try it
with a configuration more similar to the one described.
