My application, PhotoMesa (http://www.cs.umd.edu/hcil/photomesa) runs 10-20%
faster with the -server option with the current JDK1.4beta-refresh. However,
when deploying with webstart, I can not give users access to this speedup
unless you change the api to allow control over which vm is run.
