All update releases of the jdk/jre should be installed into their own directory. Otherwise, multiple versions of the our products cannot coexist on one system. In addition to installing them into separate physical directories, they should also have separate uninstall keys, uninstall display names, and registry release key names.
Currently the jre1.3.1_01a installs into C:/Program Files/JavaSoft/Jre/1.3.1, which makes it overwrite most of the files of 1.3.1 if they are already on the machine. It should install into C:/Program Files/JavaSoft/Jre/1.3.1_01a, or even C:/Program Files/Java/j2re1.3.1_01a (if we can get use our new naming conventions with update releases for old families).
