J2SE Version:
java version "1.4.0-beta3"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0-beta3-b78)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.0-beta3-b78, mixed mode)
Operating System Configuration Information (be specific):
Win2K
Bug Description:
Install J2SDK build 78 on F:\j2sdk1.4.0-beta3 directory,
if you run "java -version" in command line window, you will
get the following error message:
Failed reading value of registry key:
software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\CurrentVersion
Error: could not find java.dll
Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment
The value of JavaHome and RuntimeLib registry key under
Java Development Kit, Java Plugin and Java Runtime Environment
all point to C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.1-beta3, shouldnt it
be installed under F:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.4.0-beta3 as
previously done? I see we need create a seperate directory for
beta and RC release(bug 4485876) but why change the directory
name too?
For this case, JDK is under F: drive and JRE is under C: drive.
