Regarding J2sdk:
====================
Installing b83 using j2sdk-1_4_0-beta3-bin-b83-win-11_oct_2001.exe on Win95, 98 and ME, you can see that most of the strings which InstllShield uses can not be converted.
For example, a dialog box comes up and says as below;

String PRODUCT_NAME was not found in string table.
----------------------------------------------------

Here is the strings list.
Each string is displayed on a daialog as a string which is not found in string table;

PRODUCT_NAME
COMPANY_NAME
JDK_PATH
COMP_XXXXX
XP_XXXXX
STATUS_XXXXX
SETUP_JRE_MSG
SETUP_JRE_DONE
......etc.


Please install b83 using j2sdk-1_4_0-beta3-bin-b83-win-11_oct_2001.exe on Win95, 98 and ME and follow the installer's instruction as you usually do.
Then, you'll encounter many dialog boxes with unconverted strings in installing process.


NOTE:
1) Installing can finish successfully, however, b83 is installed under the directory "JDK_PATH" (ex. C:\JDK_PATH) unless you chose another path manually.

2) Launching Control Panel->Add and Remove Programs, PRODUCT_NAME is listed instead of "Java 2 SDK Standard Edition V1.4.0".
  Selecting PRODUCT_NAME and trying to uninstall, it can be uninstalled successfully though the same dialogs as seen in intalling appear.

3) J2re is not installed and "Java 2 Runtime Enviroment Standard Edition V1.4.0" is not listed on Control Panel->Add and Remove Programs

Regarding j2re:
====================
Installing j2re international version using j2re-1_4_0-beta3-bin-b83-win-i-11_oct_2001.exe,
same kind of dialogs as seen in j2sdk installer are seen except intalling path.
 * Proper j2re path name can be got and intaller under "j2re1.4.0-beta3"
   (ex. C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.0-beat3).

NOTE 2) problem above is seen ; PRODUCT_NAME is listed instead of "Java 2 Runtime Enviroment Standard Edition V1.4.0".


Using j2re English version, j2re-1_4_0-beta3-bin-b83-win-11_oct_2001.exe, the problem is not seen.




* This bug is not reproducible with b82 on WinME, 98 and 95.
* Testing on WinNT, 2000 and XP japanese with b83 insatller, this bug is not reproducible.
*This problem is like 4499731 which was seen in b78 and fixed in b79.

ELC tested on Win95 Sp, Win 98SE It, WinME Fr with b83 installer, this bug is not reproducible.
