Environment is PII,Win98,IE6.
As you know, the Java equivalent download at the Microsoft site fails! The
Java download at your site also failed to run on my machine until I first
followed Microsoft procedure referenced in Q255848 "How to Manually
Uninstall and Reinstall Microsoft Virtual Machine" procedure to remove old
Java files. Then, downloading Java from your site (not from Microsoft which
still failed) did result in Java running as it did before I upgraded IE5 to
IE6.
My problem is that I get an annoying message at boot up which requires
manual entry (to continue boot up) that references a missing file called
Javasup.vxd which was one of many indicated to be deleted. The Microsoft
version of Java, which does not work, does replace this file so that no
boot up error occurs. Apearently, the version of Java downloaded from your
site, which does work, does not have such a file; hence the boot up error.
My question is can I delele the three references to Javasup.vxd in the
Registry? Is there a way to "Rem" registry entries as was possible in W95
(rem or ;)? What do you suggest.
Thanks in advance ... and it is great to have Java running again!
