I'm using /usr/j2se/bin/keytool (java version "1.4.0-beta3") to generate a certificate I can use with Tomcat (the servlet container bundled with Apache). After creating the certificate, configuring Tomcat with SSL support and restarting Tomcat, when I open the Tomcat URL in my Netscape 4.x browser I receive the following error:
The security library has encountered an improperly formatted DER-encoded message
This error does not occur if I generate the certificate with /usr/java1.2/bin/keytool (java version "1.2.2").
