The Metal Look & Feel just doesn't look all that great. It pales in comparison
to the native widget kits found on Mac OS X and Windows XP. This problem has been
somewhat alleviated in 1.4b3 by making the Swing Windows L&F look and feel more
like Windows, but this does not solve the problem on other platforms. With
access to hardware acceleration, Swing does not feel slow anymore, but it does
not LOOK good. I suspect this problem could be easily solved by having a graphic
artist go to work on the Metal L&F.
