      Customer problem description:

We are experiencing similar problems as reported in the following
      bug reports from Bug Parade: 4250240, 4345713, 4264737, 4305078

The problem happens consistently on Window NT. It does not appear to happen
on Windows 2000. We have tested on 1.3.1_02 and 1.4rc1.

We have setup our test server so that you can run against it. If you run on
a Windows NT client at 800x600 resolution, you will see the problem.
Make sure your NT computer is at 800x600. When the QuickFind applet appears,
click the Find button. Scroll horizontally several times, using the scroll
'thum' or by clicking in the empty space of the scroll bar. You will soon
see white unpainted areas on the screen.

The 800x600 resolution will cause the browser scroll bars to appear. Scroll
using the scroll bar 'thumb'. I am pretty sure that it is a repaint
problem. If you minimize the browser window and reopen it, the unpainted
      white areas dissappear.

I am attaching a screenshot of the problem included in a jar.
