While attempting to run javac on an Itanium box running WinXP 64-bit
edition, I get the following error when running in '-server' mode:

I see this when attempting to build hopper (a clone of merlin with
slight changes) on an Itanium box. The build fail occurs while building
the j2se/make/java/java build unit.
