During testing of the fix for 4623589 I found that i386 java applications were coming up blank while in UTF-8 locales. It appears that the widgets are being drawn with wildly incorrect sizes on screen whilst java thinks they are correct. This manifests itself as a window appearing but being blank. For most applications the window still reponds as normal.
I tried various simple java demo programs (Font2DTest.jar, StylePad.jar). I've attached screenshots of these two running in an en_US.UTF-8 locale.
