Improve the tracing and debugging facilities of the LDAP service
provider. This project makes use of the Logging API to provide
tracing output. In addition it adds assertions to the code.

The current trace producing code in the LDAP provider is
specific to the provider. By using a platform-wide logging
facility, the provider's trace management will be consistent
with the platform's.
