Only filing this as an idea.
In many places, it is needed to determine the closest containing
toplevel for a given component. There are many places in AWT code
where such method is implemented for private use.
What should this method look like exactly, and whether it should
be synchronized or only be called from under tree lock, is to be
discussed. However, such method would allow to avoid unnecessary
code duplication.
Also, the method which for given container and component will say
whether the component lies within container's hierarchy would be
useful, too.
