FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
java version "1.4.0"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0-b92)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.0-b92, mixed mode)
FULL OPERATING SYSTEM VERSION :
Microsoft Windows 2000 [Version 5.00.2195]

German
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
It's not possible to run the 1.4 IE plug-in with JRE 1.3.1:
If you select JRE 1.3.1 in the Plug-in control panel,
Applets using the OBECT HTML tag don't work any more.
Internet Explorer 6.0 reports a runtime exception and
crashes afterwards: "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library -
Runtime Error! Program: C:\Programme\Internet
Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE abnormal program termination"
REGRESSION. Last worked in version 1.3
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
1. Install J2SDK 1.3.1_02, including JRE
2. Install J2SDK 1.4.0, inclusing JRE
3. Open the Java Plug-in 1.4.0 control panel, under "Java
Runtime Environment" select JRE 1.3 or 1.3.1
4. In IE 6.0, open an HTML page containing an applet using
the OBJECT tag
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
I expected to get applets running with JRE 1.3.1. With the
1.3.1 plug-in it is possible to run applets with JRE 1.2.2!
This bug can be reproduced always.
