On choosing Java Plugin is chosen as the default JRE (from the Control Panel options) the Settings for Microsoft VM are lost on Internet Explorer.
You have to have MSVM installed on the machine.
1) Install JRE
2) Invoke Java Control Panel (Start->ControlPanel->Java Plugin icon)
3) Choose Browser Tab
4) Uncheck the IE browser checkbox (if checked)
5) Press Apply and quit
6) Invoke IE browser
7) Choose Internet Options menu item ->Advanced Tab
8) Search for Microsoft VM
enable check box for
Java Console enabled (requires restart)
9) Click OK
10) quit browser
11) invoke it again
12) Check View menu bar item. It should list an entry for "Java Console"
Check Tools Menu bar item . It should list entry for " Sun Java Console"
On target.
13) Quit browser
14) Invoke Java Control Panel (Start->ControlPanel->Java Plugin icon)
15) Choose Browser Tab
16) check IE browser checkbox
17) Click Apply and quit
18) Invoke Browser.
19) check Tools Menu bar item . You will see" Sun Java Console"
check "View" menu bar item.
The "Java Console" entry is missing. Thats your bug.
Cross check with Internet Options menu item->Advanced tab->MicroSoft VM
The check box for
Java Console enabled (requires restart)
is disabled.
They should be enabled
Java Plugin should not disable MSVM settings.
