Running any graphical program in Java will cause my Windows 2000 machine to
      crash:

Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 2
      build 5.00.2195
nVidia GeForce 2 GTS adapter with 32Meg VRAM
      driver package 12.41-W2K.exe
      nv4_disp.dll version 5.12.01.0649
      1.5 GHz Pentium 4
      256Meg RAM

This is reproducible on Hopper build 12, but not on build 11 or earlier.
It is also reproducible using my local workspace.

The crash produces a "Blue Screen of Death" with an error in nv4_disp.dll
which is one of the nVidia drivers.

The problem manifests even if d3d=false or ddoffscreen=false, but the programs
      can be run with noddraw=true.

      ###@###.### 2002-05-23 - new info:

We've done some work with different drivers to see which versions cause
      the problem.

5.12.01.0649 - installed from the Dell Precision Resource CD
      crash occurs

5.13.01.1241 - installed from 12.41-W2K.exe downloaded from nVidia
      works OK

      6.13.10.2832 - installed from 28.32_winxp.exe d/led from nVidia
      works OK

These were all tested on the original Dell Precision 530 1.5GHz workstation
that originally manifested the problem. We are still investigating if the
same driver versions manifest the problem on other machines with nVidia
      cards.
