Sun ONE Identity Server needs to use JDK 1.3.1 which is the required java version by Sun ONE Identity Server. WSARC (Web-Service Architecture Review Committee) has asked Sun ONE Identity Server to use the following Solaris packages to install JDK 1.3.1 :
SUNWj3dev
SUNWj3dmo
SUNWj3man
SUNWj3rt
SUNWjej3m
SUNWjpj3m
SUNWjuj3m
The following are the requirements for the Sun ONE Identity Server :
-- The JDK installed by Sun ONE Identity Server shall not overwrite any existing java versions on the current system.
-- Installing Sun ONE Identity Server shall not break any existing applications such as java applications.
Here are the problems if Sun ONE Identity Server installs JDK 1.3.1 using the above Solaris packages :
1. If the JDK 1.4 is installed using JDK 1.4's solaris packages, the JDK 1.3.1 solaris packages installation will interfere with directoties created by JDK 1.4 installation. This should not happen as applications may be using JDK 1.4
2. If other JDK versions are already installed on the machine, JDK 1.3.1 solaris packages will also interfere with the directories belonging to other JDK versions.
What Sun ONE Identity Server needs to have is that the JDK solaris packages can be installed indenpendently from other installed JDK version.
