      PLATFORM : Windows (32)
      BUILD : Hopper JDK/JRE b18
      LOCATION : /java/re/jdk/1.4.1/latest/bundles/windows-i586

TEST CASE : Dirty Install of Test JDK over release JDK and UnInstall of Test JDK.

      DESCRIPTION :
Plugin demos dont work in Netscape 6.x & IE 6 when Hopper is uninstalled after a dirty install over JDK 1.3.1_02 or 1.3.1_03.

This is not an expected behavior as per the J2SE 1.4.1 Installer Spec found in "http://j2se.east/~billyh/jrespec141.html".

      OBSERVATIONS:

      1. The Netscape 6 Specific plugin dlls are not found in Netscape 'plugins' folder after hopper is uninstalled.

      2. The Registry Key
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java plug-in\1.4.1\" "UseJava2IExplorer"=dword:00000001 exists, but IE doesnt work.

      3. This problem has been reproduced in XP Home, XP Professional & Win2k Pro.
This problem has not been reproduced 100% for IE6. But when it occurs it gives the message
"The Browser understands the <applet> tag, but for some reason it ignores it "

      4. In all instances, plugin demos is Netscape 4.79 work fine.
      5. When Hopper unInstalled after doing a Dirty Install over Merlin (1.4.0), the plugin Demos's work for all browsers.

      TO REPRODUCE:
      1. Download and Install JDK 1.3.1_02 or 1.3.1_03 from "http://java.sun.com/products/archive/index.html"
      2. Install Hopper b18, run plugin demos(hopper demos).
      3. Un-Install Hopper completely from the system.
      4. Run JDK 1.3.1 plugin demos in NS6 & IE6
