      FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
      java version "1.4.1-rc"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1-rc-b19)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.1-rc-b19, mixed mode)

      FULL OPERATING SYSTEM VERSION :
      Microsoft Windows 2000 [Version 5.00.2195]

      EXTRA RELEVANT SYSTEM CONFIGURATION :
      Machine Detail:
      IBM Thinkpad (A22m), P3 700, 128Mb RAM

A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
I Downloaded the latest release of NetBeans version 3.4.
I was running the IBM JDK 1.3.1 but kept getting
exceptions, therefore downloaded Sun JDK 1.4.1 rc, removed
all references to IBM JDK, installed the JDK 1.4.1rc, re-
installed Netbeans. Then everytime I started netbeans, when
it was just starting to load the main window, *BANG* BSOD
      (KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED).
Done a search on what can cause this problem, found that
display drivers, disk space, memory (vertually anything,
thanks Bill) are possible causes, so ensured that all
drivers for my machine are up2date, have plenty of disk
space (>10GB), and watched the mem usage during netbeans
start-up (well within limits). Tried again, *BANG* same
      thing, every time.

Downloaded Sun JDK 1.3.1, ensured all refs now point to
this version, run Netbeans 3.4, ALL OK.

I Appreciate that this is a combination of a new release
and a release candidate, and that BSOD are often HW
related. However, since it all works fine with JDK 1.3.1
there must be something different in SDK 1.4.1rc that
      causes this.

Also, as no-one else has reported any problem like this,
yet (on either SUN or Netbeans sites). Could well be
      machine specific.

PS. I have no time to investigate too much this problem,
will use JDK 1.3.1 for now (will try 1.4.1 again when
released). Hence Impact on user = no impact. However, for
using 1.4.1rc Impact on user = Can not make any progress!

PPS. If I do find time, I will try out Forte (as it is
based on Netbeans) for the same problem.

REGRESSION. Last worked in version 1.3.1

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
      1. Install JDK 1.4.1 rc
      2. Install Netbeans 3.4 (from exe)
      3. Run Netbeans 3.4

      EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
Expected Netbeans to run, or at least report an error
      message.
      Got BSOD - KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.

ERROR MESSAGES/STACK TRACES THAT OCCUR :
      KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
(sorry, did not note down the dll, although remember it was a NT*.DLL system
      dll)

      REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
