Platform: sparc, x86, IA64
OS : Solaris 8,9, Solaris 8 x86, Sun Linux 6, Redhat Linux 7.2 (ia64)
Build: mantis b03
DESCRIPTION:
When an attempt is made to install j2sdk.sh or j2re.sh on the existing installation, the installer will attempt to overwrite the previous installation. It will ask a question whether to replace old files
"[y]es, [n]o, [A]ll, [N]one, [r]ename".
On selecting 'N', it skips the initial files, then copies the *.pack files & then unpacks them.
Thus even though user asked not to update the old installation, it still updates the following jar files:
tools.jar, javaplugin.jar, rt.jar, jsse.jar, charsets.jar, localedata.jar
To overcome this scenario, the Installer should either not overwrite those jar files or display a warning message asking the users to uninstall previous installations before proceeding with install.

This problem is also faced with Linux *.bin bundles in i586 and ia64
