###@###.### 2002-12-17
J2SE Version (please include all output from java -version flag):
java version "1.4.2-beta"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2-beta-b10)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2-beta-b10, mixed mode)
Does this problem occur on J2SE 1.3 or 1.4? Yes / No (pick one)
No
Operating System Configuration Information (be specific):
WinNT_4.0 with SP6a & Win2K
Bug Description:
run j2sdk-1_4_2-beta-bin-b10-windows-i586-11_dec_2002.exe on top of
build 04, click "modify" or "repair" option in Maintainance windows; and click
next. it displays the following error message:
Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read form the file
C:\WINNT40\Profiles\admin-david\Local Settings\Application Data\...\j2sdk142.msi
Note: "Java 2 SDK, SE v1.4.2.msi" DOES exist in that directory, but not
"j2sdk142.msi", make a copy of "Java 2 SDK, SE v1.4.2.msi" as
"j2sdk142.msi" and re-run setup. Although setup appears to complete
(without prompting for directories), but cannot find any new 1.4.2
directories in any of the obvious places (e.g. "c:\program files\java").
After remove build04 and run installation again, it will prompt the
following message:
"File in Use
Some files that need to be updated are currently in use"
And it requires system to reboot which is not a requirement for the
previous releases.
