Problem Description:
A 15% performance degradation was noted when switching from jdk 1.3.1_03 which comes bundled with Weblogic Application Server 7 to jdk 1.4.0_02 that comes with S1AS7. The loss in performance was noted when running a benchmark involving an ISV's (Insevo) j2ee application with Weblogic Applicon Server 7.0. Since the benchmark numbers for S1AS7 is about 30% less compared with Weblogic 7, we feel that part of the slower performance might be attributed to jdk 1.4.0_02 itself.
The benchmark involved executing a JCA transaction through an statful ejb from a rich client through t3 protocol.
Attached are the verbose gc logs and hprof for jdk 1.4.0_02 and jdk 1.3.1_03. There was error in getting Hprof output with jdk 1.3.1_03 which has also been attached.
