      FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
      java version "1.3.1_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1_01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1_01, mixed mode)

      FULL OPERATING SYSTEM VERSION :

      Windows NT Version 4.0

      ADDITIONAL OPERATING SYSTEMS :

      Windows 2000, Windows XP

A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
The Java Plug-In needs to allow specification of JVM
parameters (such as -D property settings or -X extended
options) via an HTML PARAM value so that Applets can
customize their JVM environment as needed.

It is not practical (nor proper) to use the Plug-In Control
panel to do this type of setting - not all Applets may
require the same parameters and the end user may not be
knowledgeable enough to make the settings manually.

      REPRODUCIBILITY :

      CUSTOMER WORKAROUND :
It is possible the modify the users .properties file and
specify values for the javaplugin.jre.params setting - but
this is not really proper since it will affect ALL Applets.
