  The build instructions for 1.4.2 has a note requiring the
  1.4.0 SDK (shown below). I presume this version number should be
  changed to something like:

      1.4.2
  or
      1.4.0 or later [this would include 1.4.1, 1.4.2 and 1.5.x]
  or
      1.4.x [this would exclude 1.5.0]

  Any idea which is correct?

  The quote is:

   You will need access to a J2SDK 1.4.0 for Solaris installation.
   The 1.4.0 binaries can be downloaded from Sun's J2SDK 1.4.0 download site.

   ALT_BOOTDIR
     The location of the J2SDK 1.4.0 bootstrap installation.

it should be 1.4.1 or later Can you make this change for us?
