Bug reported by James Cheng:
My mac has its proxy settings as follows:
Socks: scaea-socks.sun.com port 1080
Bypass proxy settings for these hosts & domains: sun.com
When I go to whisper.eng when on VPN and click on the java webstart link, it starts java webstart, but then fails to connect, saying it can't connect to http://edgeim1.central.sun.com:80/en/im.jnlp.
When I disable my socks setting, then try again, it installs correctly.
Not sure if this is a bug, known problem, or simply an installation faq. Just wanted to let you know. It was only when i turned on the webstart console and saw a SOCKS Connection not allowed by ruleset msg that I guessed it was related to my socks settings.
-James
Running on Mac OS X 10.2.3, with Java Webstart 1.2
Test conducted when connected to SWAN via VPN
